The recently renovated Ōtaki Pool opened its doors on Friday 15 December.

This exciting new facility is located in the grounds of Haruatai Park and features:

  • a new pool hall – we replaced the roof and walls
  • improved building access
  • a new pool ramp
  • separated filtration systems between the toddlers and main pool
  • a modern, user-friendly reception and entrance
  • acoustic panelling on the building’s roof to help with noise reduction
  • a new community-designed splash-pad next to the pool for free public use during summer.
  • easier access between Haruatai Park and the pool/splash-pad
  • upgraded air handling to improve pool environment
  • a new plant room for the toddlers pool and splash-pad filtration equipment.

Pool party - Saturday 16 December

To celebrate the re-opening of this pool we're having a party! Bring the family along for some summer fun - check out all of the changes and the new splash pad.

Answers to your questions

How did you come up with the design for the splash-pad?
More than 400 people provided feedback through completing online surveys, filling in paper forms at the pool and through face-to-face chats with Kāpiti Coast Aquatics staff. There was an overwhelming response from the community to first picking a preferred concept design and then what water play equipment they would like.

Why have you redeveloped Ōtaki Pool?

The pool’s rebuild is one of four key initiatives selected by the Council and the community for development as part of FutureKāpiti – Long term plan 2015 – 35.

What does Ōtaki Pool offer?

Once it's reopened, whether you're looking for exercise, recreation or swimming lessons, Ōtaki Pool will cater for you. It's conveniently located, will have a great community feel and will be ideal for fun family occasions.
