Our District

Community Facilities Strategy

We’re developing a Community Facilities Strategy which will provide a guiding framework for the Council’s decisions around investment in the district’s facilities over the next 20 years.

The Strategy will provide direction on the development of new facilities, major upgrades of existing facilities and optimisation of facilities no longer meeting the community’s needs.

Our aim is to ensure the district’s existing facilities address the needs of the community, avoid gaps or duplication, cope with population growth and changing user expectations, and meet the future demand in the long term.

This is the first Community Facilities Strategy that’s been developed for the Kāpiti Coast District and is one of the key activities in our FutureKāpiti Long term plan 2015-35.

We need the community’s help to ensure the right facilities are maintained and developed in the right places.

Opportunities for feedback

Last year, representatives of groups, clubs and organisations that manage, own and use facilities in our district, and other members of the community, provided useful input to help us shape the strategy. This was achieved through workshops, surveys and an online questionnaire.

Through to 3 May 2017, the community will have another opportunity for feedback – this time to provide formal submissions on the draft Community Facilities Strategy.

We’re looking forward to working with you to help shape Council’s community facilities now and into the future.
